I’m Jemma
I am a social worker at my heart, I believe in social justice and human rights. I believe in humanity, even when the world hurts so much. And I believe that everyone has the right to affordable, accessible mental healthcare because everyone has the right to heal. Everyone has the right to be seen and heard, and ultimately, that’s why I do the work I do.
I am an EMDR therapist and a play therapist and I work with these modalities to support clients, perhaps like you, to heal from experiences that have caused pain.
I have spent over 10 years as an international social worker, supporting refugee and displaced communities in countries including Turkey, Greece and Myanmar. It has been a privilege doing this work and I have a particular passion for supporting children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
I have also worked for many years women, children and families who have experienced domestic and family violence, sexual assault and adult survivors of childhood abuse and neglect.
I recognise that we first need to build a safe and trusting relationship so that change and healing can grow. I am committed to holding a safe, warm and welcoming environment where clients can make sense of their experiences in order to uncover and nurture their true selves.
